On Moon 16, Bark Step was born to Leafstar and Millipede Fur alongside her siblings: Thorn Whisker, Jay Claw, and Dusk Heart. No matter how hard Millipede Fur attempted to keep Bark Steps' fur clean, she always seemed to find dry nettles stuck in it.Bark Step couldn't shake the call of the medicine cat den; she becomes a medicine cat apprentice and is mentored by Azalea Pool.

Bark Step became a full medicine cat at thirteen moons old on Moon 29. When Azalea Pool retires on Moon 30, Bark Step becomes LeafClan's sole medicine cat again. Bark Step receives a prophecy from StarClan during her half-moon visit during Moon 33: "A kitten, born in a red flood. Cleanse her, or all will drown in her waters." Bark Step visits BreezeClan to ask for herbs to aid with the newborn kits, and to speak with Sucker Pelt about the prophecy.

Detailed description

Bark Step is a short-furred, black broken-mackerel torbie cisgender molly with spring green eyes. She is of average height (8.58"), with an intermediate body type. There are dry nettles stuck in her fur.
